PREPARED WITH THE AMOUR OF GOD
An amour is a leather or metal
covering put on by warriors for the purpose of defense. They use it to protect
their bodies from injury in the battlefield. An amour by critical analysis
could be well described as the yardstick or tape measure for preparation,
meaning once you are armed, you are prepared and vice versa. What then is the
armour of God? This is a collection or pack of spiritual instruments that we
have to utilize in clearing our way off devilish obstacles as we journey
through this life to a higher one. Our wrestling is not against flesh and
blood, Paul confirmed it. Rather it is against the invisible powers of
darkness, principalities, rulers of darkness, spiritual wickedness (Eph. 6v12).
He therefore advised; “put on the armour of God, that you may be able to
stand against the wills of the devil” Eph 6v11. The armour of God consists
of the following:
·The belt: Guard yourself with the truth just
as a soldier does with the belt. A belt is a sign of firmness. Be firm in your
words; let your “yes” be yes and your “no”, no. (Eph 6v14).
·The breastplate: Put on the breastplate of
righteousness without which no man can see God in higher places. (Eph
6v14) Being righteous means, you are booked for higher promises.
·The shoes: Prepare for the gospel of peace.
Prepare your foot and step in to it. It eases your journey (Eph 6v15). Be at
peace with all and your journey will be swift.
·The shield: Put on the shield of faith with
which you will overcome doubt and have your feet planted on a higher
land (Eph 6v16)
·The helmet: Acquire the helmet of salvation; by
it, you are sealed under that protection of the Holy Ghost in all your ways to higher
heights. (Eph 6v17)
·The sword: The word of God is a two edged
sword and help you to defeat the devil in every battle that you may
encounter in your journey (Eph 6v17)
Beloved, all these must be part of
your spiritual apparel to help you to throw the invisible enemy to shame. Walk
in this holy grooming, in honesty, steadfastness and in the hope of being
transformed from this stage of lowliness to a far recommendable one. “The
night is far spent, the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of
darkness and let us put on the armour of light” (Rom. 13v12).
